Usage

This template is to be used on the individual Indianapolis 500 race pages. This template is appropriate for Indy 500 race articles from roughly 1946 to present.

From 1950 until 1960, the Indianapolis 500 was part of the World Championship. Those articles may also use the Grand Prix infobox as a supplement, but this template as the primary at the top of the page.

Due to non-applicable information in post-WWII years, it is not suggested that this infobox be used for races prior to WWII (1911–1916 and 1919–1941). This infobox includes cells for some information that is only appropriate or applicable for more recent editions of the race. Including, but not limited to the pre-race ceremonies, and television information. In addition, the Rookie of the Year Award does not apply prior to 1952.
