Parameters

Parameter Description
headercolor To change the default color of headers, indicate a color name (e.g., lightblue or orange) or a hex triplet (e.g., #2468A0). To determine the hex triplet of a color, see List of colors; or go to List of colors#Colors by shade, click on the article associated with the desired color, and look up the hex triplet.
Personal information
name The name of the subject.
image An image of the subject. Type the name of the image file without adding File: before it or wikilinking it. If no image is available yet, do not use an image placeholder.
image_size The image size. Only use this parameter if the image is less than 220 pixels in width. If so, than indicate the image's respective width in pixels, like this: image_size=200px.
alt Alt text for the image displayed.
caption A caption for the image displayed.
nickname Nickname of the subject.
nationality The subject's nationality. Use only when necessary per WP:INFONAT. Do not use a flag template.
birth_date The subject's birth date. If still alive, use {{birth date and age|year|month|day}}, otherwise use {{birth date|yyyy|mm|dd}}.
birth_place The subject's place of birth. Do not use a flag template.
death_date The subject's death date, if applicable. Use {{death date and age|death year|death month|death day|birth year|birth month|birth day}}.
death_place The subject's place of death, if applicable. Do not use a flag template.
spouse
education Education, e.g. degree, institution and graduation year, if relevant.
occupation Occupation(s) as given in the lead.
height The subject's height, if relevant, measured in centimetres (or metres) when using the metric system or in feet and inches when using the imperial system. Use XXX cm, X.XX m, or X ft Y in. The infobox will automatically display the appropriate conversion within parentheses.
  • To satisfy international variations of English, if the subject is American or British (or primarily notable in English for playing on an American or British team, or for participating in American or British sports) enter the height in feet (ft) and inches (in), otherwise enter the height in centimetres (cm).
    | height = 6 ft 3 inScript error: No such module "convert".
    | height = 191 cmScript error: No such module "convert".
  • The height parameter also accepts conversions done via the {{Convert}} template.
    | height = {{convert|6|ft|3|in|cm|abbr=on}}Script error: No such module "convert".
    | height = {{convert|191|cm|ftin|abbr=on}}Script error: No such module "convert".
  • If the subject's height stated in a source is the converted measurement, ensure that this measurement is accurately stated. For example, if a source states 192 centimetres but the infobox should display feet and inches first:
    • Incorrect usage, does not display (192 cm):
    | height = 6 ft 4 inScript error: No such module "convert".
    • Correct usage, displays (192 cm):
    | height = 6 ft 3.6 inScript error: No such module "convert".
    | height = 6 ft 4 in (192 cm) → 6 ft 4 in (192 cm)
    | height = {{convert|192|cm|ftin|abbr=on|order=flip}}Script error: No such module "convert".
  • If the subject has not reached their adult height, add the year when the height was measured, in parentheses (round brackets) after the height.
  • Provide a reference for the information after the year, in parentheses, indicating in the footnote both the source and the original units, like this: "[source of information] (original measurement in feet and inches)"; see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Unit conversions.
weight The subject's weight, if relevant, measured in kilograms when using the metric system, in pounds when using the imperial system, or in stone and pounds in the United Kingdom. Use X kg, X lb, or X st Y lb. The infobox will automatically display the appropriate conversion within parentheses.
  • If the subject is American (or primarily notable in English for playing for an American team, or for participating in U.S. sports), enter the weight in pounds (lb), otherwise enter the weight in kilograms (kg).
    | weight = 120 lbScript error: No such module "convert".
    | weight = 60 kgScript error: No such module "convert".
  • The weight parameter also accepts conversions done via the {{Convert}} template.
    | weight = {{convert|120|lb|kg|abbr=on}}Script error: No such module "convert".
    | weight = {{convert|60|kg|lb|0|abbr=on}}Script error: No such module "convert".
    • When using the convert template for kilogram-to-pound conversions, the zero (highlighted) is necessary for correct rounding. Otherwise, the example above would display as "60 kg (130 lb)".
  • If the subject's weight stated in a source is the converted measurement, ensure that this measurement is accurately stated. For example, if a source states 125 pounds but the infobox should display kilograms first:
    • Incorrect usage, does not display (125 lb):
    | height = 57 kgScript error: No such module "convert".
    • Correct usage, displays (125 lb):
    | height = 56.7 kgScript error: No such module "convert".
    | height = 57 kg (125 lb) → 57 kg (125 lb)
    | height = {{convert|125|lb|kg|abbr=on|order=flip}}Script error: No such module "convert".
  • After the weight, add the year when the weight was measured, in parentheses. Please supply a reference in the same manner as for the subject's height.
