Template:Infobox professional bowler/doc

From The Global Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Template:Infobox professional bowler has a very specific use: for individuals who are members of a professional league, such as the Japan Professional Bowling Association, Ladies Bowling Organization, etc. Other non-professional bowlers should not use this template - as it contains fields that normally do not pertain to a non-professional.

It is best to add the template at the very beginning of an article.

Parameters

General information

name
The (romanized) name of the bowler. Use the Wikipedia naming conventions (ex: for Japanese names, it should be first name followed by the surname.)
image
The name of the image file on Wikipedia or other MediaWiki project. All other parameters for the image (pixel size, framing, etc.) are already fixed into the infobox.
image_size
alt
caption
logogram
The type of logogram used for the bowler's name. Examples: kanji, hangul, hanja, simplified/traditional Chinese, etc.
logogramname
The name of the bowler written using the logogram format mentioned in logogram.
spacedtype
The furigana method used the spaced parameter. It would be either "Spaced hiragana" or "Spaced katakana".
spaced
Meant to be used more for Japanese names. A more simplified logogram method of writing the bowler's name. Can be written using hiragana or katakana.
nationality
birth_date
The date the bowler was born. Enter it using {{Birth date and age}}, as {{Birth date and age|YYYY|MM|DD|mf=yes}}. The month should be in numerical format (ex: January=01, February=02, etc.)

For living people supply only the year unless the exact date is already WIDELY published, as per WP:DOB. Treat such cases as if only the year is known, so use {{birth year and age}} ({{birth year and age|YYYY}}) or a similar option.

birth_place
death_date
The date the bowler died. Use {{Death date and age}}.
death_place
years_active
height
The height of the bowler. Apply in meters using {{convert|m=height in meters}}.
website

Bowling information

affiliation
The association in which the bowler is a member. This could be the JPBA, LBO, etc.
license
The professional license number assigned to the bowler. All professionals and associates have this number.
classno
The graduating class number of the association. The JPBA and LBO uses this number instead of the year the bowler "passed" and was accepted.
rookieyear
The year the bowler joined the association.
hand
The bowler's dominant hand, i.e. the hand used to throw the bowling ball the most. Although one can actually use both hands when bowling, this is the hand that has its fingers go into the bowling ball.
championships
Also known as simply "wins", this is the total number of tournament wins credited to the bowler. Report only the total wins published by the JPBA.
300games
The number of 300 games rolled by the bowler. This number should be what the JPBA publishes. If the bowler has never rolled a 300 game, leave this field blank, and instead use the highgame parameter.
highgame
The highest score rolled by the bowler, other than 300. If the bowler rolled a 300 game, this parameter should be left blank, as the 300games field indicates that he has rolled at least one 300 game.
highseries
The highest 3-game series rolled by the bowler.
videourl
The full URL pointing to either a video file, or a page containing a sample video, of the bowler's form. It should not be a complete game; just one or two shots is enough.
sponsors
A list of one or more of the bowler's sponsors.
blogurl
The full URL pointing to the bowler's official blog page. Use {{URL}}

Microformat

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book or database. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.

Sub-templates

Date-of-birth ("bday") information will only be included in the microformat if {{birth date}}, or {{birth date and age}} are used in the infobox. (Do not use these if the date is before 1583). Be cautious about using these if the person is still living, per WP:DOB.

To include a URL, use {{URL}}.

Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.
